There are two ways to install Linux inside windows:
1) Using virtual machine:
Virtual Machine ? Many people wouldn’t know what is virtual machine and it would be pretty annoying word for those people, that’s why I would like to define Virtual Machine first. What is Virtual Machine?
A virtual machine (VM) is a software based, fictive computer. Virtual machines may be based on specifications of a hypothetical computer or emulate the computer architecture and functions of a real world computer (Wikipedia).
By the above definition of Wikipedia, you might have the little concept of the virtual machine.
Now how do I get this software?
There are many software companies which are selling their VM software. The well known Companies are Oracle and VMware. Oracle provides Virtual Box for free and VMware also provide the virtual machine free trail.

Here are the steps followed to create the LinuxLive USB key and estimated times:
- Formatting the USB key (if option checked) (1 min.)
- Cleaning previous install (< 1 min.)

- Copying source files to the USB key (5 – 10 min.)

- Creating the persistence file (1 min. per 100 MB)
- Formating the persistence file (1 – 5 min.)
- Installing boot sector (< 1 min.)
- Uncompressing and installing VirtualBox on the USB key (3 – 7 min.)
- Open up the VMware using desktop icon.
- After than, click on the File>>New>>Virtual Machine. This Screen will appear.
- Click on the typical and then click next.
- If you have a DVD/CD click on the CD/DVD option otherwise click on the ISO image. As Shown Below.
- After than Click on the next until you see the window as shown below. Name your Virtual Machine and click on then Next.
- Now you will see a window which will ask you to set a maximum size of your virtual machine. Set that option to 10 GB which will be the best for running Ubuntu.
- In the Next step Ubuntu will ask for the username and Password. ( every version of Linux will ask for it).
- Then Keep Clicking next until you see the finish option.
- Afterwards, it will install Linux Ubuntu into your VM like a normal installation of an OS.
